KSRTC bus triggers serial accident
The bus driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit five two-wheelers and an autorickshaw.
Bengaluru: A two-wheeler rider died, while six others, including two women, sustained injuries after a KSRTC bus, with over 40 passengers on board, caused a serial accident in Konanakunte Cross in Kanakapura Road in Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police station limits on Thursday. The bus driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit five two-wheelers and an autorickshaw.
The police have booked the accused driver, identified as Mahesh, for rash and negligent driving causing death under Section 304 A. The bus passengers had a miraculous escape.
Police have identified the deceased as Ranganath, 40, a resident of Yelachanahalli, who was riding a TVS Scooty when the accident happened. The injured have been identified as Prem Singh, 45, Shantha Kumari, 45, Jogi, Raja Reddy, (all were travelling in two-wheelers) auto driver Sayyed Aqib and passenger Sana.
According to the police, the accident took place around 1.15 pm. Mahesh was driving in a rash manner and was headed towards Kanakapura. The bus hit a two wheeler, following which Ranganath fell onto the road and came under the wheels of bus. A panic stricken Mahesh tried to speed away, but hit the motorists who were waiting at Konanakunte Cross signal.
Fellow motorists rushed for the rescue of the injured and alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and arrested Mahesh. They also shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.
The traffic on the busy Konanakunte Cross came to grinding halt and was restored after an hour. Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have registered a case and begun investigation.
