One held in minor girl rape case in Kovai

Of all the suspects questioned, the police detained 15 for detailed interrogation and 12 were let off on Sunday morning.

COIMBATORE: The shocking rape and murder case of a seven-year-old minor girl from Kasthurinaickenpudur in Pannimadai has been solved, with the Coimbatore police arresting the accused Santosh Kumar on Sunday.

The Coimbatore SP, R. Pandiarajan said, “Santosh (34) is a fabrication worker from Thondamuthur who used to visit his ailing grandmother in Kasthurinaickenpudur. The accused is the girl's neighbor and the rape was committed in the home of the accused on Tuesday.”

On the day when all seemed normal, Santosh, who was known to the victim, invited the minor girl to his home after school hours. While his bed-ridden grandmother was in one of the rooms, he brutally raped the girl twice before he killed her in another room in the home. “During tough interrogation, the accused admitted having raped her two times before he killed her as he wanted to stop her from screaming.” investigation officer of the All Women Police Stations in Thudiyalur, Ms Meenambigai said.  

Of all the suspects questioned, the police detained 15 for detailed interrogation and 12 were let off on Sunday morning. “Of the three suspects Santosh confessed his crime.” Ms Meenambigai said.
