Hyderabad: Notorious chain snatcher nabbed

Mir Sajjad Ali is a notorious and habitual chain-snatcher and receiver of stolen property.

A chain snatcher who pretended to be a walker walked behind Rashmitha Reddy, grabbed her 30 gram gold chain and ran away.

Hyderabad: A notorious chain-snatcher, who was involved in around 85 chain-snatching cases, was arrested by the south zone task force team on Sunday. The habitual criminal, identified as Mir Sajjad Ali, 34, had 50 non bailable warrants against him. He escaped to Mumbai and settled there as a driver after getting bail. “The accused Mir Sajjad Ali is a notorious and habitual chain-snatcher and receiver of stolen property. He, along with his associates, identified as Shaik Saleem alias Jaba Saleem, Mohd. Ahad and Syed Abdul Majeed were involved in around 85 chain snatching cases in various police station areas of Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad Commissio-nerates,” said additional deputy commissioner of police of the commissioner's task force N. Koti Reddy said.

“In 2014 April, Sajjad Ali was arrested by S.R. Nagar police and was remanded to judicial custody. Later, he got bail and escaped to Mumbai and was staying there since then. Non bailable warrants, issued by courts were pending against him,” added Mr Reddy. The south zone task force team kept a close watch on his movements and based on a tip off apprehended him on Sunday. It was clarified during the interrogation that 50 NBWs were pending against him.
