Chennai: Man beaten to death by three auto drivers

Chennai: In a shocking incident near Kancheepuram, three auto-rickshaw drivers beat a man to death, on Sunday night.

The victim was identified as M. Parivalavan (27), of Tranquebar, Nagapattinam district.

According to the police, Parivalavan, who was engaged in online business was staying with his elder brother Jayaseelan (29) in Chennai.

“On Sunday, the brothers had gone to their uncle Amirtharaj’s house in Kanathur near Kancheepuram. At around 10 pm, they walked to a nearby ATM centre on Kanathur - Kancheepuram road,” the police said.

At the time, an auto-rickshaw in a rash manner went pass them missing the brother by inches. Irked by the rash driving, the brothers scolded the driver. "The driver, who was in an inebriated state started attacking the brothers. He,  joined by two others, supposedly, auto drivers, beat Jayaseelan and Parivalavan with wooden logs and fled the spot," the police said.

Noticing the two persons with injuries, the passers-by alerted the police and ambulance. “When the ambulance arrived at the spot, Parivalavan succumbed to the injuries on the spot,” the police said. Jayaseelan was sent to Kancheepuram Government Hospital and he is under treatment.

Kancheepuram Taluk police have registered a case and a search is on to nab the accused.
