Hyderabad: IPL betting gang busted, three held
Officials seized Rs 9,000 in cash, an LED TV and two notebooks with betting entries, along with three cell phones from the possession of the accused.
Hyderabad: Based on credible information, sleuths of Narayanguda police station, apprehended three cricket betting organisers, identified as Racharla Karthik Kumar alias Bablu, Racharla Kishore, and Wilson Anthony, while they were accepting bets over cell phones for the ongoing IPL 2018 cricket match between Sun Risers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Officials seized Rs 9,000 in cash, an LED TV and two notebooks with betting entries, along with three cell phones from the possession of the accused.
“Karthik Kumar hatched a plan to organise cricket betting in his house and accordingly arranged cricket betting for all the international matches and the ongoing IPL T20 matches by watching the match on TV and fixing the odds by keeping track of the updates on the ‘Cricket Live Guru’ application and then accepting bets on winning teams, ball by ball and session by session gambling,” said ACPs Abid and G. Biksham Reddy.
