GHMC deputy EE in ACB trap
The accused demanded Rs 20,000 from A. Salamma to appoint her as sweeper in the place of her husband on compassionate grounds after he died
Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed a GHMC deputy executive engineer and a field assistant for taking a bribe. They were caught red-handed by the agency.
The accused were identified as P. Mahalakshmi, the deputy executive engineer, and sanitary field assistant Y. Vijay Kumar of GHMC-Kapra.
According to the ACB, the accused demanded Rs 20,000 from one A. Salamma to appoint her as sweeper in the place of her husband on compassionate grounds after he died.
Based on a complaint about the demand, ACB officials nabbed the GHMC staffers when they were accepting the bribe amount at Mallapur crossroads at Nacharam at around 6.45 am, from the complainant A. Srinivas, son of Salamma. The money was recovered from the possession of the two GHMC personnel, the ACB said.
They were arrested and produced before the ACB court. Further investigation is underway.
