Hyderabad: North zone police solves gold theft case, arrests four

HYDERABAD: The north zone task force along with Market police solved the case in which five persons posing as I-T officials fled with 17 100-gram gold biscuits from the Siddi Vinayaka store in Pot Market on May 27, with the arrest of four remaining persons on Friday.

Police arrested the absconding accused, identified as Amul Ganpatrao, 30, of Bangladesh, Rushikesh Vinodh Jadhav and Subham Vinodh Jadhav of Goa and Sanjay Parusuram Jadhav of Karnataka, and recovered Rs 45 lakh, gold and two vehicles which the gang used for the getaway.

Police had previously arrested Rahman Gafoor Athar, Zakir Ghani Athar, Praveen Yadav, Akash Arun Hovil, Abhijith Kumar and Amol Ganpatrav Jhadav (all from Maharashtra) and Sidharath Jhadav of Goa.

Police said Zakir Ghani Athar used to work at an adjacent shop at Pot Market and used to go to the Siddi Vinayaka Gold Shop on work frequently, west zone DCP Chandana Deepti and task force DCP Radhakishna Rao said.

He tipped off the other accused, who came to the city on May 24. He also took the gang to the shop in the 4th floor of Navketan complex.

On May 30, police arrested Rahman Athar, Zakir Athar, Praveen Yadav and Akash Hovli and recovered 573 grams of gold. On June 1, they arrested Godike and seized 30 tola gold biscuits.

Based on their information, the police arrested the rest.
