Hyderabad: One of the victims, V. Vijayalakshmi, a degree student, said, “I am the second person to be rescued by the locals. When I came out of the vehicle I saw my mother in a pool of blood and was bleeding heavily.” At the time she spoke to this newspaper,  she did not know that her father V. Nagendra had died in the accident. She added that her mother, Sangeetha, was in critical condition and that the doctors were not informing her about her father Nagendra's condition.

One of the family members, Surendra, whose son is critical and in the ICU, said, "I was travelling in another car and I got a call from Vijayalakshmi informing me about the accident. We immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the hospital. Doctors said that my son, Vaibhav's spinal cord was damaged, air had entered into his lungs and he was in a critical condition in the ICU.”

Daughter of Surendra, Dimple, an intermediate student, was the first one to be rescued by the local people. She said, “Fortunately we were sitting towards the right side of the car and we (Dimple and Vijayalakshmi) escaped with minor injuries."

When Surendra was asked about whether the driver Ravi was under the influence of alcohol, he replied that he might have got drunk when they stopped at the dhaba for dinner.

x However when Vijayalakshmi was asked, she said, " I don't think he (driver) was in an inebriated condition. He was driving well and was alert. But I think it was raining and there was fog all over and we couldn't see the road. That might be the reason for the accident."
