Dharmapuri: 4 arrested for attempted gang-rape of minor girl
The main accused kidnapped the girl on a two-wheeler as she was going to school, under the pretext of giving her a lift.
Dharmapuri: The Gobinathampatti police of Dharmapuri district have arrested four people for attempting to rape a minor girl. The accused were sent for remand to Salem central jail after they were produced before a local magistrate court here on Saturday.
Police said, Thaniarasu (24), his friends Athiyamaan (26), Malaiappan (21) and Arun Kumar (24), all belonging to Dhathampatti village in Dharmapuri district were arrested for their alleged gang rape bid.
The 12-years-old girl studying seventh standard in a government school of her place was kidnapped on a two-wheeler by Thaniarasu when the victim was going to her school that day.
Thaniarasu on pretext of offering a lift to her school, had allegedly taken the girl to an isolated place, where three of his friends joined him. The girl was saved from the gang-rape by the local people after she shouted for help.
A case has been registered by the Gobinathampatti police following the complaint given by the girl's relative.
Thaniarasu, Athiyamaan, Malaiappan and Arun Kumar were arrested and sent to jail as remand prisoners.
