Hyderabad: 6 held for kidnapping businessman, seeking Rs 4 crore as ransom

Hyderabad: The Petbasheerabad police on Tuesday arrested six persons who kidnapped a businessman and demanded a ransom of Rs 4 Crore.
Accused D Hariprasad, 25, A Mohan, 19, A Shyam, 28, G Rama Shiva Shankar Varaprasad, P Sanjeev, 27, and E Rajashekar, 23, were arrested by the police, who seized a car, one bike, two toy pistols.
Balanagar DCP PV Padmaja said that on August 27, the accused persons kidnapped S Ramakrishna Raju, who owns a chemical industry at Nacharam, when he was on the way to work from his house at Kompally. With the intent to earn money, Hariprasad hatched a plan to kidnap a businessman for ransom. They conducted recce for two days and kidnapped Raju.
The victim was threatened with the toy pistols and took him into their vehicle. He was blindfolded and was taken to the house of another accused at Medchal where they administered B-Complex through a syringe, the DCP said.
"Raju was told that he was administered poison, and will not get an antidote unless he accepts to pay Rs 4 crore ransom. He was given a week’s time and let go, but the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint,” said the DCP.
