KADAPA: In a major police operation in three places in the district and in one by forest officials, 65 red sandalwood logs were seized on Thursday and 15 persons were arrested for their involvement.

Superintendent of Police Karur Karunapati Nagendra Kumar Anburajan speaking to reporters later said that 11 red sanders logs were seized in the morning near the Buggavanka Dam under the Chintakomma Dinne police station. Eight suspects were arrested.

Police arrested three smugglers at Chintarajupalle Panchayati Ramachandrapuram under Ontimitta police station and seized 19 red sanders logs and a Bolero vehicle. Two smugglers were arrested at Khajipeta police station and five red sandalwood logs were seized when they were about to be transported.

In Kadapa forest division, forest officials arrested two Tamil smugglers and seized 30 red sanders logs. Kadapa division forest officer Ravindra Dama said that the logs were seized at Yanadi Banda in Palakondalu reserve forest. Two other suspects fled from the spot, he said, adding that they are carrying out search operations for them.
