Jakranpally murder: Accused held, cops refute love jihad' angle
Nizamabad: Nizamabad police on Saturday arrested Mohammad Tousifuddin alias Imran, 25, of Jakranpally mandal headquarters, for killing Ghanapuram Tejasri, with whom he was in a relationship. Jakranpally police registered cases against him under Section 363, 354D, 302 of IPC and SC/ST (POA) Amendment Act-2015 and produced him before the media at the police commissionerate here.
Speaking to reporters, commissioner of police V. Satyanarayana said that Tejasri and Tousifuddin had been in a relationship for the last five years. But she had been maintaining distance from Tousifuddin for the last few days due to his bad behaviour.
Against the warning of Tousifuddin, who was insecure that she might get disposed towards her brother-in-law, Tejasri attended her relatives’ marriage at Aloor village, where her brother-in-law Arvind lives.
On September 23, Tousifuddin forcibly took her to the outskirts of Jakranpally and attacked her and left her at her uncle’s home in an unconscious state in Jakranpally. Tejasri was admitted to Government General Hospital and declared brain dead on Wednesday. The organs of the victim were handed over to Jeevadan Trust.
The CP refuted the allegations of ‘love jihad’ in the case. Both were in love and the suspicion by the accused led to her death, he said. Muslim women also joined in protest at Jakranpally demanding stringent action against the accused along with the villagers, he said.
‘We will submit a report to the state government and seek fast track court judgement in the case’, the CP said. Additional DCP S. Jayaram, Nizamabad ACP M. Kiran Kumar, Dichpally CI K. Krishna, Jakranpally SI Ch. Tirupati and others were present. CP appreciated the police team for quickly arresting the accused.
