Truckers film RTA staff demanding bribe
The staff sent me to a driver of RTO and the driver demanded Rs 1,500 and later came down to Rs 700, truck driver said.
Hyderabad: On Tuesday, a few truckers along with the workers of Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) recorded the video of an RTA staff who openly demanded and accepted bribe from them.
A truck driver, unwilling to disclose his name, said, “They asked for the registration certificate and when I provided it, they asked my driving licence and permit. After submitting all the documents, the staff told me that the number plate of the truck was not proper and threatened me of seizing the vehicle and booking a case. The staff sent me to a driver of RTO and the driver demanded Rs 1,500 and later came down to Rs 700. Only after paying the said amount, he allowed our truck to move.
Spokesperson of MBT Mr Amjed Ullah Khan said that he would lodge a complaint with the concerned authorities along with the video evidence.
