Chennai: Madras HC rejects plea to order CBI probe
The petitioners have not made out any extraordinary or special grounds for transfer further investigation , the judge added.
Chennai: The Madras high court has rejected plea, from the 14 accused in the Ayanavaram child rape case, to transfer the investigation from the local police to the CBI.
Dismissing the petition filed by the 14 accused, Justice A.D. Jagdish Chandira said this petition has been filed by the petitioner/accused, who are facing charges under the Pocso Act. No specific material has been averred in the petition regarding mala fide exercise of power by the Inspector of Police, All Women Police Station, Ayanavaram. “In the opinion of this court, all the grounds raised in the petition are matter of trial and further no assertion has been made by way of affidavit, further the investigation has been completed, final report has been filed and the case has been taken up by the Mahila court. The petitioners have not made out any extraordinary or special grounds for transfer of investigation or for further investigation”, the judge added.
