Kerala: Drug peddlers stab cop during arrest
In the bid to escape, Georgekutty stabbed a policeman named Binu who suffered injuries on his hand and had to be hospitalised.
KOCHI: Two history-sheeters hailing from Kottayam were arrested and 1 kg of hashish was recovered from them by the crime squad of the Tripunithura Hill Palace police on Wednesday night. The arrested are Georgekutty (31) and Achu aka Santhosh (21). In the bid to escape, Georgekutty stabbed a policeman named Binu who suffered injuries on his hand and had to be hospitalised.
The seizure and arrest took place at Petta when the six-member District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force led by Hill Palace CI Shiju PS was patrolling the area and inspecting vehicles. “When two policemen including Binu blocked the car of the duo and detected three RC book in the vehicle, they grew suspicious and began to check further. Sensing trouble they tried to escape from the scene and stabbed the cop,” said Mr Shiju.
