Three Police Personnel Rewarded for Thwarting Bids to Disturb Polling

Hyderabad: Hyderabad commissioner of police Sandeep Shandilya on Friday rewarded G. Ambika, SI Mangalhat PS, Vinay Kumar, constable, city security wing, and Krishna Kumari Bhosle, constable, Falaknuma PS, for their timely response in sensing a potential disturbance and preventing them during Thursday’s polling in different parts of the city.

Ambika noticed that groups of people belonging to political parties were quarreling around Shahinayath Gunj PS and disturbing the election process. She rushed forces to the spot and dispersed the crowd and prevented the situation from going out of hands.

Vinay Kumar stopped a few persons, who came to cast bogus votes in the polling booth under Habeeb Nagar PS, arrested them after registering a case and them. Krishna Kumari Bhosle also prevented a few persons from casting bogus votes at Kalapathar PS, following which a case was registered.

Meanwhile, Habeebnagar police arrested three persons, identified as Mohd Zakir, Mohd Shabuddin and Ritesh Gupta, who were trying to cast bogus votes.

Police also seized 67 duplicate voter ID cards, thinner bottles, voter list, cotton, voter slip printing machine, paper rolls, vaseline and toothpaste. Police said that the accused attempted to cast bogus votes in the polling station at Govt high school Telugu medium, Nampally.

DCP (sw zone) B. Balaswamy said that the accused were caught before they entered the polling booths.

“Other details like who had hired them and their motives are being probed,” he said.
