2 women stabbed by stalkers in TN, AP during New Year weekend
Both women were attacked for what appeared to be spurned marriage proposals.
Kanyakumari/Tadepalligudem: Two women were stabbed by their stalkers over the New Year weekend in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in two separate incidents.
A soon-to-be bride was stabbed on New Year’s Eve after her stalker came to know about her marriage in Kanyakumari. The accused, S Fegi Castro, allegedly stabbed the victim while she was on her way back from church. While the victim fainted, the accused was beaten up by passersby.
According to media reports, the victim who is a teacher, had also filed a police complaint against the man. Police officials were quoted saying that the man was called for an inquiry and was warned six months ago.
In another worrying incident, a 17-year-old girl was stabbed by an MBA student for not replying to his proposal at the outskirts of Tadepalligudem town in Andhra Pradesh.
The accused, Sanjeev, was reported to be the neighbour of the victim. While the two became friends recently, the victim’s parents’ had objections to the acquaintance.
On Saturday, Sanjeev followed the victim on her way back from college and took her to an isolated place, where he reportedly tried to convince her about the friendship, stated media reports.
"A few minutes after he entered into a discussion with the girl, Sanjeev attacked her with a small knife, inflicting 10 cuts, some near the neck. The accused also attacked himself," Inspector Murthy of Tadepalligudem Police Station was reported saying.
Both the victims have reported to be in stable condition.
