Hyderabad: A burglar, who robbed around 19 houses in the twin cities, landed in the police net. Police recovered around 1.5 kg gold from the suspect. The man, Gaffar Khan alias Jigar, used to sell the stolen gold to three city-based jewellers for half the market price. Cops took the jewellers also into custody. The suspects, who bought the gold from the burglar are Bajranglal Soni, Sumit Chand Soni and Rohit Soni, all from Ganzi Bazaar.

A resident of Yakutpura, Gaffar Khan, used to drive around on his bike during the wee hours in posh localities to identify locked houses. “After making sure the owners are away he used to select the first or second floors, and open the doors of kitchens or other rooms by putting his hand through adjacent windows and enter the houses.  After entering the house he used to open almirahs with keys usually available in the house and steal valuables like gold. He also used to break the locks of doors and enter houses. On some occasions he was chased by local people while committing thefts,” said a senior official from the commissioner's task force east zone team, whose team arrested Gaffar Khan on Saturday.

Police said the suspect had stolen valuables from many houses in city areas like Malakpet, Amberpet, Santoshnagar, Kanchanbagh, Ramgopalpet, Golconda, Saroornagar and Rajendranagar.
