Hyderabad: Woman cheats sixty people

Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman allegedly cheated over 60 people of around Rs 8 crore in Neredmet. The accused, Aruna Reddy, had been running chit fund schemes for the last 10 years. She is now absconding with the money.

Neredmet police said around 40 people from Defence Colony approached the police and lodged a complaint against Aruna Reddy. More people came afterwards saying they also lost money.

“Some people have lost Rs 2 lakh, some have lost Rs 5 lakh,” said inspector M. Jagadish Chander. Most victims were waiting for their chit to get over and get back their money. But, Aruna Reddy fled with the money after locking her house.
Police has started a search for her after booking a case.
