Hyderabad: Theatre security guard accused of raping minor
Girl gagged and assaulted, had gone there to fetch water.
Hyderabad: A security guard of the Vijetha theatre in Borabanda has been detained for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl when she went into the theatre to collect drinking water. Prasad, 20, also allegedly tried to bribe his victim with Rs 100, which she refused.
A lack of drinking water in her shanty forced the girl, a resident of Sarathi Society in Borabanda, to approach the theatre for water, where the guard forced her into a toilet. The girl said she resisted and raised an alarm, but the guard beat and gagged her before raping her, though she escaped later.
The Borabanda division is represented by deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin and the shanties are a stone's throw from his residence. According to residents, there are more than 100 huts in the area, housing a population of around 500, but without drinking water and toilets. The girl's parents are daily wage earners in Medak district, while the girl lives with her elder brother, a garbage collector.
Sanathnagar inspector E. Venkat Reddy said a case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the girl has been sent to Vishwas Centre at Kondapur for medical tests and counselling.
