Bengaluru: A 38-year-old married man has made a 15-year-old pregnant at Agrahara Dasarahalli under the Basaveshwaranagar police limits. The accused, Jayasurya, a pani puri vendor and a neighbour of the victim, had a physical relationship with the girl over the last few months, promising to marry her, an investigating officer said.

“The accused is on the run. He was not involved in any criminal cases in the past,” the officer said. After the girl fell ill recently, her grandmother took her to a hospital, where the doctors confirmed that the minor was three months pregnant.

When her grandmother and other neighbours questioned her, the girl told them that Surya had a physical relationship with her for the last eight months and had promised to marry her.

Recently, after the victim fell ill, Jayasurya sensed something wrong and fled the area, the police said. The victim along with her neighbours lodged a police complaint and the accused has been booked under several sections of POCSO and further investigations are on.
