Bengaluru: Four-year-old knocked down by school bus

Police said the accident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday while the girl was returning home from school.

Bengaluru: A four-year-old girl died after her school bus driver knocked her down after dropping her at her house in Adarsh Nagar in Nelamanangala on the city outskirts on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Varsha, an LKG student in a private school in Nelamangala.  She is the daughter of Krishnamurthy, a labourer.

Police said the accident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday while the girl was returning home from school. After alighting the school bus, she started walking towards her house located just a few meters away.

As she was passing in front of the bus, the driver, who was reportedly looking elsewhere, did not notice her standing right in front of the bus and knocked her down. The girl died on the spot

The Nelamangala traffic police, who have registered a case, arrested the bus driver, Basavaraj, in this connection.
