Bengaluru: Lecturer kills wife in argument over divorce

According to the police, the couple had marital discord and used to fight frequently over trivial issues.

Sanathnagar police arrested K. Ramachandra Reddy, a 30-year-old realtor, for allegedly cheating G. Venkat Reddy, a businessman, of nearly Rs 25 lakh.

Bengaluru: Following an argument over divorce, a 56-year-old college lecturer was arrested by the Indiranagar police after he allegedly murdered his wife by slitting her throat on Thursday night.

The deceased is identified as Manjula, 45, while her husband, Mailaraiah, a lecturer at a college in KGF, has been arrested. The couple resided at Indiranagar 14th Main.

According to the police, the couple had marital discord and used to fight frequently over trivial issues. On Thursday around 9 pm, they had a heated argument about getting divorce.

An angry Mailaraiah took a machete and hacked her. As she collapsed, he allegedly slit her throat and murdered her. Soon after the incident, the neighbours, who heard the commotion, managed to nab the accused and inform the police. The police have arrested the accused  and are questioning him about the murder.
