Bengaluru: Woman dies after bus crashes into bike

The Vijayanagar police have arrested BMTC bus driver Veeresh and have seized the bus.

Bengaluru: A 42-year-old woman died of severe injuries after a speeding BMTC bus hit her scooter at Basaveshwaranagar 8th Main signal on Saturday afternoon. Her brother who was riding the bike had a narrow escape.

The deceased, Shakila B. Shetty, from Kundapura and a resident of Basaveshwaranagar, was riding the pillion with her brother Mohan. At the 8th Main traffic signal, as they were waiting for the signal to turn green, the BMTC bus being driven rashly hit the scooter from behind. 

Shakila, who sustained severe injuries, was being rushed to a private hospital when she died midway. Mohan sustained minor injuries. The Vijayanagar police have arrested BMTC bus driver Veeresh and have seized the bus.
