Hyderabad: A passenger travelling on the Tungabhadra Express was injured when some miscreants threw stones at the train on Friday night.
The passenger, K. Raghunath, suffered an injury on his eye and is undergoing treatment at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital.
Raghunath, who belongs to Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district, completed post-graduation from Bhavan’s New Science College recently.
On Friday, he was coming to Hyderabad to collect his certificates and boarded the Kachegudabound Tungabhadra Express.
When the train was approaching Falaknuma railway station he went to relieve himself. After that he came out and was washing hands in the basin near the railway coach’s door.
Meanwhile, unidentified persons threw stones at the coach. One stone hit Raghu who was at the door and injured his right eye. “His eye is seriously injured. Doctors say that his condition is critical and there are chances of the infection spreading to the other eye,” his elder brother Parasuram said.
Based on his complaint, Kacheguda Railway Police registered a case under Section 324.
“We do not know why they did it. We are checking for clues. Based on evidence we will proceed,” Kacheguda GRP sub-inspector T. Ramarao said.
