Hyderabad: Four booked under Preventive Detention Act for gangrape

They were subsequently arrested and remanded by the Maheshwaram police on August 22.

Hyderabad: Four migrant labourers involved in gangrape of a woman working at a brick kiln were booked under the Preventive Detention Act by the Rachakonda police commissioner on  Tuesday.

The accused — Rahul Maji, 25, Manoj Samrat, 23, Durga Samrat, 20 and Dayanidhi Maji,  20 — all natives of Odisha, were working at a brick kiln located at ND Thanda in  Maheshwaram.

On August 16, the accused abducted a woman, working at the same brick kiln when she  went to attend nature’s call and raped her at a secluded area. They were subsequently  arrested and remanded by the Maheshwaram police on August 22.

Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat on Tuesday invoked the PD Act against  the four accused persons and detained them in the Cherlapally Central Prison, to  prevent them from committing such offences.
