ACB arrests power AE for accepting bribe

Hyderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Pavidida Raju, assistant engineer (AE) (operations) with the southern discom for accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 for doing an official favour at Erragadda. 

According to the ACB, Pavidida Raju, AE at the Erragadda section, was caught red-handed at a lane near the Balanagar Metro Rail station while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant Mohammed Azhar Sulthana, a resident of Netajinagar, Erragadda.

The ACB said Raju had asked Sulthana for the bribe for not taking any action against a defect found in the electricity meter of the complainant during  testing. Sulthana later complained to the ACB. Raju was arrested and the ACB officials recovered the bribe amount from his possession. He was produced before the court for judicial remand.
