Businessman's death: Bengaluru cops probe past cases

Bengaluru: The North division police have intensified the probe into the murder of businessman Paruchuri Surendra Kumar, who was shot dead by two armed assailants in front of his house in Sanjayangar on Sunday night.

Sources said the investigating teams are now verifying the cases filed by Kumar and the cases filed against him. “The deceased had filed several cases against various people and most of them were related to cheating. Similarly, there were also cheque bounce and cheating cases against him. All these cases, including those which are closed, are being verified,” an official said.

Police teams have also gone to Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh as part of the investigation. “As there are allegations that one, Kabil Saraswat, who is now in Mathura jail in Uttar Pradesh, had threatened Kumar in the past, a team has been  sent to Uttar Pradesh to look into that angle. If necessary we will take his custody and question him,” the official added.
