Two Nigerians with cocaine held in Kochi

The two reached Kochi from Bengaluru to deliver the drug to an unidentified person.

Kochi: Kochi city police on Thursday arrested two Nigerian nationals with 35 grams of cocaine. This is one of the largest cocaine seizures in the city. According to the police, Cornelius Ossai, 30 and Essy Peter Emekah, 35 were arrested from a flat near the International Stadium near Kaloor. The police feels that the duo were members of a New Delhi-based narcotic smuggling racket. The two reached Kochi from Bengaluru to deliver the drug to an unidentified person.

Police is on the lookout to nab the person who was waiting for them. The police seized their mobile phones, passports and identity cards.  Police suspects that the accused were planning to sell the drugs during the festive season. Sources in the police claimed that the cops were planning to conduct more search operations in the city. The cost of one gram of cocaine is around Rs 10,000.

The narcotics squad of the city police headed by SI Prathapachandran conducted the operation. They reached Kochi on Thursday morning. Police added that they were planning to question the arrested men to find out whether they were linked to any persons holding parties in the city.  Last year Actor Shine Tom Chacko and his friends were arrested in Kochi for the same offence.
