State CID has more info than CBI in case: Minister
Bengaluru: The state police have come to a logical conclusion in the murders of Gauri Lankesh and Dr M.M. Kalaburgi and the state CID has more information than the CBI in these cases, asserted newly inducted Home Minister M.B. Patil here on Wednesday after a review meeting with senior police officers.
He said the modus operandi in both murders was similar and that the investigation into them by the state police and CID is in progress. The CBI has been probing the murders of many Leftist thinkers, but the state police is ahead and come to a logical conclusion soon, he said.
Stating that criminals should not be identified by their communities, he should they should be treated just like criminals.
“The state has identified 113 people as illegal immigrants and the process to identify others is on. I asked the police officers to keep a vigil on criminals and drug mafia and also to manage traffic efficiently," he said.
He said that he met a group of Sabarimala Ayyappa devotees, and those going from Karnataka to the hill shrine in Kerala have faced no problems. If they raise any issues, Karnataka will ensure their safety, he said.
