Boy stabs mom in front of Kerala Secretariat

Thiruvananthapuram: A teenage boy stabbed his mother with a compass and injured her on her neck and belly in front of the secretariat on Thursday morning. The victim was identified as Deepa, 35, of Puliyarakonam who works as a staffer at a reputed supermarket chain close to Palayam. The police who arrested the class XII student said he had entered into a heated argument with her in front of the secretariat south gate around 11 a.m. He stabbed her and was attempting to attack her again when he was neutralised by the pedestrians.

The boy was provoked by her relationship with another man. “Her relatives said that her husband had left her several years ago. Recently, another man had started to live with the family. The boy resisted this as his 15-year-old sister was staying with them. The boy was thrown out of his house three days back and was living at a relative’s house. He had come to the city to persuade his mother to keep off the relationship, police officials said. The boy was produced before a juvenile court. The Medical College officials said that the woman was out of danger.
