Bengaluru: Targeting PG accommodations, man stole 151 laptops!

Police have recovered 151 laptops, five cameras, four iPads and six tabs from the accused.

Bengaluru: A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Madivala police for allegedly lifting laptops from PG accommodations and apartments. He was involved in 101 cases and the police have recovered stolen property worth Rs 72 lakh.

The accused is Sumeer Sharma, a resident of Banashankari. He hails from Punjab and had come to the city in 2009. He had earlier graduated in hotel management from a private college in Chamarajapet.

Police formed a special team following a rise in cases of thefts of laptops and electronic goods from PG accommodations and apartments. They got information on Sumeer picked him up for questioning. It was revealed that he met Arun Pathak in 2015 and the duo started committing thefts.

“He identified PG accommodations and apartments in Madivala, HSR Layout, Mico Layout, Koramangala and Adugodi, as many students and software professionals resided there. He made friends with security guards to gain access,” police said.

“Sharma and his wife Rajeshwari had an outlet in Kalidasanagar to sell stolen goods. There the couple sold the stolen laptops. His wife recorded every theft and laptop sold in her diary,” police said. Rajeshwari met Sharma in in college and they later married.
