Bengaluru: A woman software engineer has accused her father-in-law of sexually harassing her and her husband and mother-in-law of supporting him.

She has filed a complaint with the Basavanagudi police station but police are yet to start the probe, as the accused are in the US. The 28-year-old woman married techie Raghunandan about a year ago.

Later, he moved to the US on work and she here stayed with his parents. Her father-in-law Venkatapathi allegedly misbehaved with her and also touched her inappropriately on a few occasions. When the victim told her husband that she wished to stay with him in US, Raghunandan allegedly demanded dowry.

"The complainant said she arranged for some gold jewels and went to the US to stay with her husband. A few months later, her in-laws moved there too and Venkatapathi resumed his harassment. When she told her husband, he allegedly asked her to 'adjust'. Even her mother-in-law supported her husband. Unable to bear it, she returned to India a few weeks ago," an official said. Police have decided to transfer the case to All Woman police station in Halasuru Gate.
