Trader arrested for selling date expired milk powder in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The police arrested a 58-year-old trader on Saturday for allegedly selling date expired milk powder by packing them in new packets with valid dates. The cops seized 350 kg of milk powder from the trader, Mahender Kumar Shah.

Afzalgunj inspector C. Anjaiah said that Mahender Kumar Shah, 58, a resident of old city, owned Sharada Enterprises at Mahboobgunj and sold paper products. A year ago, he started selling packed milk powder under the brand name 'Milk Food — Spray Dried Skimmed Milk Powder’.

Police found that he did not have a licence to sell milk powder. “He procured packs with valid dates and packed them with the date-expired powder and sold them,” Mr Anjaiah said. The cops also seized a packing machine from him.
