Hyderabad: Petty tiffs, deadly end
If one can just have a minute's patience, a lot of unfortunate incidents can be avoided, says ACP Chetana Mylabathula.
Hyderabad: Disputes, be it minor or major, has been the main reason behind all the recent murders that took place in the city. “Road rage, goading sentences and provocative comments comes in a second,” said a senior police official of Hyderabad city police, adding that often, trivial disputes between young people escalate into murder and stabbings at unprecedented rate.
In mid March, an incident which happened in Krishna Nagar area of Jubilee Hills in the wee hours sent shock waves in the region after a youngster, identified as Sudheer Kumar, was declared brought dead in a hospital after he was punched to death by four men. “The four men questioned him for coming in the wrong route, dashing their bike. A drunk Sudheer passed on some comments which irked the other and they delivered fist blows on his face, eventually killing him,” ACP, Jubilee Hills, K. Srinivasa Rao said.
Earlier, in 2017, the charred body of a man suspected to be that of an advocate was found in a car. The police later found out that the body was that of 47-year-old Uday Kumar, a Hyderabad based lawyer, and Keesara police arrested two men for murdering him over a mere property deal.
“Patience is the key,” Assistant Commission-er of Police, Sultan Bazar, Dr. Chetana Mylabathula IPS said. “Hyderabad police respond within minutes and a patrolling vehicle is promptly sent to the spot to attend any case. If one can just have a minute’s patience, a lot can be avoided. You may not be wrong but if you are patient enough to wait and call us, things could be handled very differently,” she said.
In one such incident, a 13-year-old student, Meesala Mallikarjuna, was killed in what started as a friendly Kabaddi match at Muchintal near Shamshabad in September. A group of students were playing the match in the locality. Mallikarjun and one Arjun were playing in opposite teams. While playing, an argument broke over a small fault and both started punching each other resulting in fatal consequences for Mallikarjun who suffered a blow in his face and died.
