Hyderabad: Members of the Christian community staged a protest at Kukatpally on Monday demanding strict action against ant-socials who had obstructed an Easter procession. Cops altered the case filed against the miscreants and added charges of outraging the modesty of women. A case has also been registered against the members of the Christian community on charges of proselytization.
A group of youngsters obstructed an Easter procession taken out in Dayaram Basti, which is located behind the Metro Mart in Kukatpally, on Sunday.
The group tore up copies of the police permission granted for the procession. They also misbehaved with the women by abusing them and forcing them to apply sindoor on their foreheads as a symbol of their denunciation of the Christian faith.
On Monday, over 200 members of various Christian organisations led by the Rashtriya Kranti Parishad (RKP) staged a protest in Kukatpally demanding strict action against the miscreants. They also appealed to the government to condemn such incidents and take the necessary steps to prevent their occurrence in the future.
The Kukatpally Police arrested four people involved in obstruction of the Easter procession. The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody on Monday.
