Bengaluru: 4 held, 22 cases of robbery solved

The police recovered Rs 80,000 in cash from the accused.

Bengaluru: The Begur police have arrested four notorious robbers who were involved in more than 22 cases of robberies and thefts in the city. 

They also seized two country made pistols and four live bullets from the accused.

The accused have been identified as Sayed Abrar, 29, a resident of Marathahalli, Nasrullah, 24, Tauseef Ahmed, 28, and Sayed Sheikh Thabariz, 28, all residents of K.G. Halli.

According to the police, based on a complaint registered by a wholesale businessman who was threatened and robbed by the four accused on April 5 in Begur, the police had formed a special team to nab them. The police said they often used to target wholesale businessmen while on their way to the bank to deposit money. The police recovered Rs 80,000 in cash from the accused. They have also seized two bikes, two daggers, two country made pistols and four live bullets.

Sayed was involved in 30 cases in the city, while Nasrullah in 18 cases and Thabariz in 15 cases. Sayed and Thabariz were listed as rowdy sheeters in K.G. Halli police station in 2014.

Investigations revealed the gang had purchased the two country made pistols from Miraj Khan. The police have also arrested him and are interrogating him regarding the pistols. The police produced the four accused before a court and were remanded to judicial custody.
