It is suspected that there are similar labs in Hyderabad and the smugglers have links with South Asian countries and Australia.
Bengaluru: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have busted an inter-state and international drug trafficking racket.
According to NCB officials based on credible information, on April 30 they seized 26 kg of ketamine drug near Movie Land theatre near Majestic from a person, aged about 33 years and hailing from Chennai.
The drug was kept in a gunny bag and both the receiver and supplier fled on seeing NCB officials. However the receiver was nabbed, while the supplier fled in his car.
On May 1, the supplier was traced near Yelahanka and arrested. During the interrogation, he revealed that he was manufacturing the drug at his house in Kengeri.
They checked the house and found a lab and also came to know that he had another house in Vidyanagar, where a similar lab was found. They seized 26 kg of ketamine from his Kengeri house.
It is suspected that there are similar labs in Hyderabad and the smugglers have links with South Asian countries and Australia.
Ketamine is used in human anesthesia and veterinary medicine. But it is also a popular party drug, as it causes hallucination. However continuous use can cause serious damage to bladder, kidneys, and heart.
