Bengaluru: Spat over gully cricket, one killed
It is said the deceased and injured owed money to Balaraj after betting on a gully cricket match.
Bengaluru: Bike-borne members of a gang attacked two drivers over betting on a gully cricket match, killing one on the spot, while leaving another critically injured at Ambedkar Nagar in Yelahanka on Friday.
The accused, Balaraj, who was on the run after committing the crime, was arrested by the Yelahanka Satellite Town police within a few hours of the incident.
The deceased, Muniyappa (19), was a resident of Someshwaranagar and an auto driver. Rafiq (22), who is a cab driver, has been critically injured and has been admitted to Nimhans.
The police said that the incident occurred around 6.30 pm in Ambedkar Nagar while the two were standing near their house. The gang members came on bikes and attacked the duo with machetes and swords and fled. While Muniyappa died on the spot, Rafiq sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Nimhans.
