NIZAMABAD: A few students of Shankary Nursing college have complained against TRS Rajya Sabha member D. Srinivas's son and former mayor D. Sanjay for alleged sexual harassment. They met Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy in Hyderabad on Thursday. The students were led by Progressive organisation of women (POW) president Ms Sandhya.

As many as 11 BSc (Nursing) students complained to the minister that on July 26, Mr Sanjay tried to sexually harass two students. They said due to his influence, they lost admission in a private hostel. The students urged the minister to provide them protection and help them continue their studies. The home minister has reportedly directed Nizamabad commissioner of police Kartikeya to inquire into the allegations and take necessary steps.

Shankary Nursing college comes under IV town police station in Nizamabad. Nizamabad town circle inspector Naresh said they did not receive any complaint against the former mayor. When DC tried to contact Mr Sanjay for his comments, the cell phone was switched off.

It may be noted that differences between Mr Srinivas and the TRS party had widened recently. The TRS leadership in Nizamabad district had also proposed disciplinary action against Mr Srinivas.  Mr Sanjay came down heavily on the TRS in a recent meeting conducted by them. It is believed that Mr Srinivas may be soon join either the Congress or the BJP.
