Hyderabad: An attempt to take selfie in front of a moving MMTS train turned fatal for an Intermediate student at Talaab Katta railway station in Old City late on Sunday.
The police identified the deceased as Khadeeruddin, 20, a resident of Golconda.
On Sunday evening, he went to meet his friend in Old City and the duo then headed for the railway tracks between Uppuguda and Yakutpura railway stations to booze.
“While they were consuming alcohol, Khadeeruddin saw an MMTS train approaching and wanted to take a selfie with the train in the background. He then pulled out his phone and stood on the tracks when the train dashed against him, causing him to fall on the tracks,” said Railway Police officials.
He was rushed to hospital by his friend and others, where he succumbed to his injuries late on Monday. The Railway Police registered a case and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
