Thiruvananthapuram: A woman who was allegedly gang-raped by her husband’s friends in Kerala, was forced to withdraw her complaint against the culprits because the police allegedly ridiculed her and asked her lewd questions about the incident.

Dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi has revealed how the cops in a police station in Thrissur, humiliated the gang-rape victim by failing to act on her complaint, and instead asked her ‘whom did you enjoy most?’

The victim alleged that the four rapists included a politician with high connections. Bhagyalakshmi said in a Facebook post, which was kept in the ‘friends only’ setting, that the police officer asked the woman,  ‘whom did you enjoy most?’

When contacted, Bhagyalakshmi told Deccan Chronicle that  she stood by every word in the post. When DC pressed Bhagyalakshmi to identify the police station limits where the crime occurred, she declined saying the time was not  ripe to expose the victim/survivor to possible intimidation and danger.

The post said that this was not a film story. “I am narrating this after proper investigation. One day, a woman called me. She was crying. When I asked her who she was, she said that she wanted to meet me.” Shortly, a woman aged around 35 came to meet her. She was a slim girl, well-dressed which made it clear that she belonged to a well-off family. Her eyes were full of sorrow.

The victim told her that she had two kids and that her husband was an alcoholic. One day four of her husband’s friends came to her saying that her husband had some health problem and that he was admitted to a hospital. She was asked to go along with them. However, when the car went to a direction opposite to that of the hospital, she tried to cry and raise an alarm.  She was forcefully silenced, taken to a house in a remote corner outside the city and gang-raped. They threatened her claiming that the whole incident had been videographed.

If she reported it to someone, the video will be made public, they said.

After three months, when the husband noticed some abnormality in her behaviour, he questioned her and realised the facts.  When they went to the police station, the police officials brought the four persons and asked her intimate questions. “This humiliation was more than that happened when I was raped,” the post said.
