TV journalist assaulted by realtor's men in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A regional news channel journalist was allegedly thrashed by a gang when he was taking visuals related to an alleged illegally built layout.

The Rajanukute police have registered a case against the husband of a Grama Panchayat chairperson and others in this connection.

The incident took place at Addaganahalli village near Rajanukunte on the city outskirts on Friday. The journalist, identified as Manjunath Dinnur, was reportedly working on a report related to an alleged illegal layouts being developed by Veeranna, husband of a Vishwanathapura Grama Panchayat member Savitha.

While, his cameraman was video recording the layout, a gang of around 10 men led by Veeranna allegedly stopped them and picked up a fight. Though the reporter told them that he would also record their version, the men allegedly thrashed him, snatched the camera and his mobile phone. They allegedly assaulted the journalist with a wooden stick. The reporter was admitted to a hospital later. Rajanukunte police have registered a case.
