Woman commits suicide in KR Puram

A 30-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to regular harassment by her husband in K R Puram police station limits on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Maharani, a garment factory worker. She got married to Sharath Babu, an auto driver, in 2010. According to the police, around three years after they got married Sharath got addicted to alcohol and this upset their relationship. Sharath began harassing his wife for money. On Friday night a similar fight broke out between the two and she committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling, the police added.

Maharani's sister, Kasthuri has filed a complaint against Sharath Babu. K.R. Puram police have registered a case and arrested Sharath.
