HYDERABAD: Two chain snatchings in less than an hour in LB Nagar Zone on Friday night have put cops on toes once again. Police suspects the snatchers are former offenders who are back on the path again. CCTV foot-age recovered from the spots showed two persons on a bike. The rider is seen wearing a helmet and the pillion rider had covered his face with a muffler.

The chain snatchers attacked two women in LB Nagar and Vanasthalipuram in less than an hour’s time on Friday night and decamped with gold weighing 11 tolas. The incidents that happened in a very short duration and in nearby places have become a cause of concern for citizens.

Earlier, a gang on a snatching spree in areas coming under the limits of various police stations in the LB Nagar zone had looted 18 women in less than two months’ time. Police had arrested four students, including two engineering students, and recovered from them ornaments worth around Rs 15 lakh then.

After a short gap, the chain snatchers are again targeting women moving alone at nights at secluded places.

The investigating officials said that special teams have already been deputed to trace the chain snatchers, while some teams are analysing the CCTV cameras in the surroundings.

“The footages in the CCTV cameras showed the snatchers riding a bike at night. But the bike number was captured clearly,” they said.

Further analysis of the footage arose a suspicion that the snatchers were old offenders, who cou-ld have been relea-sed from prison recently. “We will soon nab them,” a senior official from Racha-konda said.
