Puzhal jail warden attempts suicide

Chennai: A 24-year-old jail warden, who was suspended on Saturday allegedly on charges of smuggling ganja for the inmates, attempted to kill himself on Sunday.

Police sources said he drank mosquito repellent at the camp road in Puzhal. According to police, Livingston Prabhu (24), native of Tirunelveli was found in an unconscious state in the Puzhal government quarters by his neighbours on Sunday morning.

He was rushed to a private hospital nearby for treatment. Enquiries revealed that he was suspended from duty on Saturday for taking bribes and allegedly smuggling ganja for the inmates.

Dejected, Livingston attempted to end his life. A case has been registered by Puzhal police, and investigations are on.
