Bengaluru: Man uploads morphed pics of estranged wife, arrested
He made a fake profile on a dating website with her contact details.
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old man, who had uploaded morphed pictures of his estranged wife along with her contact number on a dating website, has been arrested by the cyber crime police.
The accused has been identified as Vinay, a native of Thirthahalli and a clerical staff at a media house in the city. Vinay and his wife were living separately after he started suspecting that she was having an affair.
A few months Vinay’s wife stopped all communications with him. This enraged him and he decided to teach her a lesson.
Vinay created a fake profile the name of his wife’s friend, with whom he suspected she was having an affair, and uploaded her morphed picture and her mobile number.
Vinay’s wife began receiving several calls from men seeking sexual favours. Fed-up with the calls, she asked one of them as to how he got her number. The caller revealed about a profile on a dating site.
She checked the profile only to find it was in the name of her friend. She confronted her friend, but he told her that he had never created any such account, let alone upload pictures.
He then approached the cyber crime police and lodged a complaint. The police tracked down Vinay with the help of IP address and arrested him.
During interrogation, Vinay confessed to creating a fake account and uploading his wife’s morphed images and contact number to teach her a lesson.
The police have booked him under various sections of the IT Act and remanded him to judicial custody.
