Jilted lover murders woman, killed by her siblings

TIRUPATI: A 28-year-old man killed a woman on Friday by slitting her throat while she was asleep for rejecting his love. He was immediately killed by the woman’s siblings after he slit his own throat in an attempt to commit suicide.

According to police, K. Sushmita (22) of Sambaiah Kandriga village in Chittoor Rural had been working as a staff nurse at Christian Medical College Hospital in Cheelapalli near Gudipala. One Chinnappa from the same village, who worked in a local granite factory, used to harass her in the name of love. He is said to have confronted the woman on Thursday evening on the issue but she firmly refused.

On Friday, Chinnappa sneaked into the house of the woman in the early hours  and reportedly slit her throat with a knife while she was asleep in the veranda. The accused then came out and slit his throat in an attempt to commit suicide. Hearing the commotion in the interim, the victim’s siblings rushed to the veranda only to find Sushmita in a pool of blood. When they looked around, they found Chinnappa in front of their house. They attacked him with boulders and killed him on the spot.

Upon receiving information, DSP N. Sudhakar Reddy and other police officials rushed to the spot. The bodies were shifted to district hospital in Chittoor. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
