Hyderabad: A 40-year-old man’s body was found in a canal on Monday morning in Shamshabad police station limits. Locals saw the body and alerted the police, who sent it for post-mortem examination. The police identified the man as Avvula Chinna Narasimha, a resident of Nanajipur. “He was staying with his son and daughter-in-law at Nanajipur and was an alcoholic. He often used to go out for a couple of days. When he left home on Friday the family did not suspect anything,” said SI Khaleel Pasha of Shamshabad police.

“Locals saw the body and alerted us. We sent the body for post- mortem and informed the family. We suspect that he must have accidentally fallen into the water body after getting intoxicated,” the inspector said. Based on a complaint from his son, Avulla Yadaiah, a school bus driver, police booked a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC.
