Siblings arrested for killing father in Salem

SALEM: In a terrible tragedy, Kannankurichi police in Salem on Tuesday arrested two sons of a farmer who stoned him to death over a land sale dispute.
Police said farmer Munusamy, 55, was making arrangements to sell a piece of land near Kannankurichi which enraged his two sons, Sakthikumar, 30, and Damodharan, 27, after the farmer had taken a second wife some time ago.
Munusamy’s two sons and his first wife were doing farming in that piece of land and they objected to the sale. This led to feuding between Munusamy, his estranged first wife and his two sons.
In this backdrop on Monday, when Munusamy visited the land, his two sons again picked up an argument with their father that turned violent. The duo allegedly attacked their farmer-father with a big stone that killed him.
Even as the two sons went into hiding, Kannankurichi police inspector Thangavel arrested Sakthikumar and Damodharan on Tuesday based on a tip-off, sources told DC.
